I'm Ash.

Hey There!

I'm the owner of Ashley Thornton Photography. I have been professionally taking photos for over 12 years and have a minor in Photographic Arts from the University of Central Oklahoma. I also own my own studio in NW Oklahoma City.  I have learned a lot over the years from other photographers who I've mentored with, workshops/courses, along with a lot of trial and error both by myself and within the community and industry; some really amazing and some not so good!  I have long wanted to teach others, but I wanted to feel more seasoned prior to doing so. I had a lot happen personally and professionally in the last few years and finally feel like it's that time! 

 

I'm excited to announce that I am opening up workshops and classes to share the knowledge I have learned in the photography industry! These will range from learn your camera and editing classes, to full workshops specific to newborns, mini sessions and marketing. I will be keeping all of these classes/workshops more intimate and therefore availability will be limited. I want to be able to work one on one with anyone who comes during the workshop/class. 

 

I know that personally I learn very differently than others and sometimes struggle trying to learn a new subject or improve a skill I already have. I feel as though I have a unique way of teaching and communicating both the big picture and small details all at once.

Newborn Workshop

I recently did mentoring classes with Ashley Thornton at her studio.  Ashley was very willing to share her journey & knowledge with me. 
She asked several questions to gauge my level of understanding, & catered the info she shared in a way that met the level I was at.  We worked on a variety of topics including newborn sessions & wrapping, sales, mini session flow, pricing, & general photography business topics. 
She is great at explaining both technical & general ideas in a way I could understand. She was extremely encouraging & challenged me to level up both my photography skills & my business practices.  She also tasked me with several challenges to help push me to grow my business.  She never made me feel like I had a dumb question & complimented my work. 
She listened to all of the concerns & struggles I’ve had & offered suggestions on how to overcome them based on her own experience.  She shared struggles from her own path which helped me relate to her & the journey she’s been on.  She is an accomplished professional & I have been extremely lucky to learn from her over the past few months.  I look forward to gaining more knowledge in the future from her.
